My older sissy graduates!!!

We had some seriously matching outfits for the holidays...

My sissy Deanna, graduates this week with her BA in Elem Ed and I am so proud of her!! She already has a job at Erickson Elem, and is getting settled into her classroom already. I used to tell her story to my advisees who thought they couldn't make it through school to inspire them, because it took her 17 years to get here. My sister did the typical frosh thing and didn't do so well the first year, had too much fun and not enough school and left and went to Pima. She then came back to the UA, and like many a student lots of life got in the way, and well, she left again and went to Pima again. She had a hard road ahead of her to get back in good standing, and plus our parentals made her pay them back, ouch!! She became a mom, wife and worked full time, but knew she wanted to go back to school. She figured out a way to go back, became a Rodel scholar, and manage all her responsibilities and two years later voila she is a graduate!! All of us who work or worked in higher ed know how hard that is for a student to achieve. Way to go Nanner!!! Send some happy thoughts to my sissy as she works through her first year of teaching!!
