So friday comes and goes with no problems with the cats...We went to a surprise birthday party for a friend turning 30, had way too much cheese and chocolate cake, yum! and since was in our old neighbhorhood, so D and I drove past our old house on 33rd, and I had a pang of wistfullness, I loved that house, with its great mountain views, and two bathrooms.. sigh, oh well, the burbs are still the burbs, and I love my new house more.
So Sat rolls around and the cat vomits not once, twice, but five times in an hour! I was just about to go out the door to my first yoga class in many months, but this stopped me cold, especially when Miles starts growling at me, D says he is shaking his head and licking the air, freaked D and I out, so we scooped him up, grabbed his pet carrier still out from the day before, and away we went to the emergency vet clinic number that my vet had on his answering machine. The Pima Pet Clinic is empty when we get there, the gal behind the counter had no interest in our gorgeous cat, and usually the people at least fake it for us, which I appreciate. We wait for 30 minutes 60 minutes, D gets up to ask when we will get in, and the receptionist snapped at him and said, you will get in when you get in, we have to fit you in with our scheduled patients. Let me paint you a picture. The waiting room is 10 feet by 10 feet, with 6 chairs. A yappy llapsa apso comes in and his bark echos against the tile floors and does not stop for ten minutes. Finally that dog goes away, and is replaced by a very old schnauser type dog who proceeds to wheeze for another 30 minutes, the poor thing couldn't catch his breath. Finally they take us in. The vet tech was grumpy and proceeds to kick our cat carrier! The office smells like cat pee, and its not very clean. The vet tech manhandled our cat, and she didn't say anything about our cat either, dead giveaway, if you encounter this from your vet people, run far far away!! They are supposed to be animal people right? So we wait another 45 minutes, so now its been an hour and 45 minutes, and still no vet so we leave. Just walk out the door. Can't believe the bad treatment we received.
So we go to another vet place, Southern Arizona Veternary, and by now the cat is really agitated, and we are both yelling at each other. So we pull up, and the building is clean, the vet tech people calm us down, get us in a room right away and are chatting away with our cat. This is what you want, nice vet techs who chat with your cat. The vet comes in and looks at Miles and says he is dehydrated, glad we brought him in, most likely from the vomiting caused by a reaction to the shots he got yesterday. I guess a reaction can happen anytime, and sometimes violently. The vet was so nice, chatted with us about our cat, told us he was pretty, well he is, and she got on his level and gave him a good rub. She then put a hydration pack in his back, which is supposed to be absorbed into the skin, basically water under the skin, or an iv for cats. Miles came home and over an hour, changed back into our cat, he relaxed, drank some, ate some, and played a little. We were in and out of there in 30 minutes. We heard a horror story from the vet tech about a dog that wasn't seen at Pima Pet Clinic because he didn't have any cash, and the poor guy tried to drive the dog over to S AZ Vet and he died on the way.
The good news is that our baby is ok, we now know a great emergency clinic, and I can try to start yoga next week.

Ohhh, so sad! Glad to hear everyone/cat is back in healthy working order! That vet clinic SUCKS! Been there - they even had to put our cat down and they were totally unkind!
